Managing solutions
Global Partners & Associates works with clients to help them find new ways of dealing with old problems. We draw on our research, analysis and evaluation capabilities to design and deliver projects that have a tangible impact.
But if such work is to have a lasting effect, it must be owned and driven by those affected, and we therefore work closely with stakeholders to design and deliver programmes. It is the combination of strategic analysis, practical delivery experience and partnership, sometimes in hostile environments, that characterises our approach.
Supporting the Iraqi Council of Representatives
Global Partners was asked by the British Foreign Office to develop a project to support the Iraqi parliament in Baghdad. During our initial assessment we spent time with MPs and staff from across the parliament to identify the challenges. We also liaised with international donors and other stakeholders working with the Council of Representatives to ensure our work was co-ordinated and complementary. The resulting two-year programme sees us working with key committees to improve their efficiency and effectiveness, by helping them to design and deliver their strategic plans. However, the key aspect of the project is that the content and structure is determined by the committees themselves. Our role is to guide and advise, but the long-term impact of the project relies on the politicians and staff owning the problems.
Analysing the Impact of Media Programmes on Development
The Swedish Development Agency (SIDA) asked Global Partners & Associates to help assess the impact of its media programmes for social and economic development. The underlying purpose was to create a coordinated approach to the evaluation of media programmes. To do this Global Partners organised stakeholder meetings, developed indicators that addressed market and economic factors, and consulted relevant stakeholders. We proposed a plan of action setting out how indicators can be applied and used at global, national and project levels.
